Web Marketing Association Announces 2006 Winners in its Annual Web Site Awards Competition, WebAwards

West Simsbury, CT (PRWEB) September 27, 2006

The Web Marketing Association (http://www.webaward.org) announced today the winners of its tenth annual WebAward Competition for outstanding web site development. More than 2,300 web sites from 35 countries were adjudicated in 96 industry categories during this year's WebAward competition.

Entries were judged on top web site design, copy writing, innovation, content, interactivity, navigation, and use of technology.

The World Wide Web continues to evolve in terms of Web site development and the expectations of visitors to sites, said William Rice, President of the Web Marketing Association. The Web sites today are more integrated than ever and have multimedia tools embedded into the site rather than as links. The WebAward winning Websites have once again set the standard for all Web development. This accomplishment serves as an invaluable marketing opportunity for both the winning website and company and serves as a benchmark for all Websites within the each industry.

The 2006 Best of Show WebAward is presented to New York-based Big Spaceship (http://www.bigspaceship.com), for its outstanding work on the "TBS: Department of Humor Analysis" web site at http://www.tbshumorstudy.com. The web site also won for Best TV WebAward. TBS's Dept. of Humor Analysis works hard to put the "very-" in front of "funny." To help TBS steer clear of common pitfalls in this cut-throat, dog-eat-dog, rabbit-outwit-duck, duck-shoot-pig, anvil-smush-coyote, Chico-trip-Zeppo field of funny business, Big Spaceship joined forces Mother Interactive to turn their very silly questionnaire into an addictive, fully interactive web site.

R/GA (http://www.rga.com) was named Top Agency at the 2006 WebAward Competition, taking home 19 WebAwards. The Top Agency Award recognizes the consistently outstanding development pursued by interactive firms when creating top website designs. R/GA has also won more WebAwards than any other organization during the past decade, although this is their first Top Agency Award. R/GA, headquartered in New York, won 12 Outstanding and 7 Standard of Excellence WebAwards.

Thureon's Armarac Wins Silver Award for Hottest New Product At 2008 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA)

Auckland, NZ and Boston, MA (PRWEB) July 21, 2008

Thureon, a New Zealand engineering and IT operations company, today announced that BusinessWeek and the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) have named the company's Armarac server room-in-a-box a winner of the 2008 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA). Twenty world-renowned design professionals honored the Armarac enclosure with a silver award for computer equipment from among 1,517 entries from 26 countries.

"Sharing the medal stand with companies including gold award-winner Apple for its iPhone and MacBook Air - and bronze winner RIM for its Blackberry - is a fantastic achievement for our company," said Tarun Kanji, Thureon CEO. "We've come a long way, yet our team's globalization journey has only just begun. Our focus now is translating critical acclaim into growth."

As the world's first zero-footprint rack-mount system, the Armarac enclosure enables enterprises to securely deploy servers and network equipment without requiring a network room or wiring closet. By bringing the capabilities of a complete server room into a compact wall-mounted enclosure, Armarac units fill a void in the market for customers who need to deploy rackmount systems in harsh environments or locations that lack space, environmental controls, or physical security.

The IDEA 2008 winners represent a celebration of the most innovative and exciting product and product concept designs of the year, competing in one of the world's most prestigious design competitions. This year, the competition focused on sustainability, great attention to detail - and in this slowing economy, affordability.

"We know that thousands of companies need a low-cost way to bring their IT infrastructure out to branch offices, factories, and warehouses since it was our own need that led us to design the Armarac system," said Thureon co-founder Darren Smith,. "By naming our invention one of the hottest new products, BusinessWeek and the IDSA confirm that we are entering the market when elegant, sustainable solutions for IT infrastructure are particularly valued."

The IDEA jury spent weeks previewing entries online and in two-and-a-half days of intense, face-to-face evaluation and debate to evaluate the entries. Judging criteria focused on multiple areas of industrial design excellence including design innovation, benefit to the user, benefit to the client/business, benefit to society, ecological responsibility, appropriate aesthetics and appeal, as well as usability.

To view a slideshow of IDEA winners, visit the BusinessWeek website at http://images.businessweek.com/ss/08/07/0717_idea_winners/37.htm. IDSA will publish in-depth information on the winners in its quarterly magazine, Innovation, and in its Yearbook of Design Excellence this fall.
